Network
Continuing a time-honoured tradition of 'using your website as a public bookmarks system', here's a good chunk of the stuff on the `net that is either read regularly by me, produced by people I know, or in many cases, all of the above.
Obviously there are a couple of subjects I collect a little more information than the average person on, they get their own subpages.
General Idle Reading
www.boingboing.net - what was one of the best counterculture magazines in the 90's (I still have print issues) is now one of the best counterculture blogs on the net.
www.slashdot.org - perhaps no longer the force it was 10 years ago, it's still an interesting gathering of a wide range of tech/science stories.
www.io9.com - good little blend of science/fiction stuff. sufficiently nerdy.
www.aintitcool.com - bite-sized doses of movie news.
www.filmschoolrejects.com - more pretentiously detailed doses of movie analysis
www.superherohype.com - source of everything I need to know about movies about people with powers and tights.
www.theregister.co.uk - Information Technology Journalism, done the British way (Hint: it involves beer and sarcasm)
www.notalwaysright.com - "The customer is..."
www.thedailywtf.com - Digitial Schadenfreude. Tales of how supposedly smart people can do very dumb things. Never give a hardware guy a compiler.
www.cyberpunkreview.com - repository of all things c-punk
